October 09 -April 2010
Hi guys, its Corrie Here,
Well as Sam and Dean have now moved to New Zealand the project continues over here in Bequia, although Sam is in charge of running the site it has been my job to keep her up to date with what’s been happening over here (sorry for the delay!)
During October the walls were concreted on the first floor which comprised of the water tanks and the two bottom floor bedroom en-suites, and the pump room. During this time I was in the UK for a month with Sam and Dean to take our exams (this was the last time I saw Sam and Dean before they left for their trip around New Zealand.
Through November however, the roof of the first floor was cast which consisted of the guys putting up all the plywood which would hold the concrete and the steel work to make it hurricane proof, then we moved in and put all of our water pipes, plugs and electricity lighting conduits in. This was really hard as the sun was unbearable during that time, with no clouds so it just blared down on us, however with the first floor roof on you can now see the shape of the house being formed, particularly with the aches taking place.

For Christmas, Dani very kindly bought us a Christmas tree! So with our first decorative Christmas we were able to finally celebrate, although still missing the white snowy day which the UK had!
In January the first floor of the main house was ready to start the last phase, for the guys part this means the plastering and stoning the walls and floors. And for us this meant the rest! However while they were getting ready me mum and dad were able to start shingling the bar roof of the swimming pool.
In February and march the guys moved the stone bath into the guest bedroom ready to start stoning the walls and floor, as you can see it took at least ten guys pushing and pulling it from the tree into the bedroom as it was so heavy, we had to put metal bars underneath just to make it move!
While this was happening the columns of the second floor (which comprises of the kitchen, living room, reception room, gym, office and storeroom) of the main house were going up. And after that the block work for the walls went up. The pool was also being tiled by Chris and Marlon. These were pebble tiles which is a lot different to put up than normal regular tiles. The pool seats which are made of coral were also placed in the pool.

In April the pool steps and ledges were tiled in coral tiles and in the main house the block work had finished so all the walls and columns were completed, for the ring beams me mum and dad spent a week putting all the conduits and water pipes in the steel work ready to be cast. The first floor rooms had been plastered and the stone work has been finished in the guest bedroom, we also had some guys put in trowel plaster as well which gives the room the final touch. All that has to be done is the bathroom and the doors (which I'm currently varnishing!). the pump room has almost been finished, just needs another coat of paint and the master bedroom has been tiled and is now ready for the trowel plaster, so is the laundry room.
